New Detroit Tunes - Dale Earnhardt Jr Jr

One of my favorite new bands out of Detroit - Dale Earnhardt Jr Jr.

Don't get it twisted by the fire retardant suits - these guys are far from North Carolina Bluegrass. They are a fusion of Detroit garage rock x Pop harmony x Hip hop beats. Check out the video below of a live studio version of "Vocal Chords" from their Debut EP, Horse Power.

New Taproot Single - Fracture (Everything I Said Was True)

Taproot, from Ann Arbor, Michigan is set to release their 5th Album, Plead the Fifth, on May 11.  They just released their first single from the album, "Fracture (Everything I Said Is True)".

For you long-time Taproot fans, the great thing about the new song is you can hear a little bit of each previous album.  I think of this as a hybrid between Gift x Welcome x BSR x OLRH.  I love the song.

Click below to take a listen.

As many of already know, the man behind the designs of Badseed Clothing is none other than Taproot guitarist, Mike Dewolf.  We're very proud of Mike and the rest of the guys.

Support this project.

Also lookout for Taproot on tour and keep tabs on them at www.twitter.com/FollowTaproot

B-Real x Badseed

B-Real from Cypress Hill getting his first special delivery from Badseed Clothing - directly from Detroit to LA - a brand new "Script" T.

Check out B-Real live each weekday at 4:20 PM PST for his live webcast show at www.breal.tv .

They're doing some pretty cool stuff over there - live interviews, MC battles, new music samples, etc.  The convenient 4:20 PM pacific standard time makes it quite accessible as well for those of you on the east coast/midwest who can't watch the 420 show at work.  Skip a SportsCenter or Seinfeld rerun and go to breal.tv at 7:20 PM EST to check out an episode.

Stussy - J Dilla Doc

Just watched this documentary for the first time this morning.

Stussy in collaboration with Stones Throw Records put this documentary together chronicling Detroit legend, J Dilla's, growing popularity on the LA scene and his migration from Detroit to LA before his untimely passing in 2006.

For Detroit hip-hop artists and purists, this film doesn't teach you anything you don't know, but for those not as close to the scene, this will provide a crash course on one of the most influential hip-hop artists to originate from our proud city.

It was interesting to hear about the "railroad between Detroit & LA for artists" that has existed since Motown which is an analogy of how many of Detroit's best/most talented musicians have left the city to for LA to get their due.

Great film - suggest you take 20 minutes out of your day and watch.

Couldn't find part 3 to post - but I think you can find it here.

From the Badseed Archives - Big Proof & DJ Salam Wreck

One of my favorite photo shoots we ever did.

Big Proof and DJ Salam Wreck came all the way out to the north suburbs to do a Badseed Spring Line photo shoot in the basement of long-time Badseed friend, Chris Schwegler, the pre-eminent concert photographer in Detroit (www.schwegweb.com).

This is one of my favorite photos from the shoot - good times and good memories.
